The Big Five include lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and the cape buffalo. These animals were given this designation because they were considered to be the most aggressive and dangerous animals to hunt in the animal kingdom during the Colonial Game Hunting Era. Today these animals are not hunted in the national parks habitats. All of these animals can be found in any of Tanzania’s National Parks; however, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater offer the best opportunities to spot all five of these animals.
